“Victory of Tamil Unity — Film Title ‘Miller’ Officially Changed”

Following the collective opposition and unified voice of Tamils across the world, the production company behind the film previously titled “Miller” has now officially announced a change in the film’s title.

This decision stands as a significant victory for Tamil unity, awareness, and respect for our martyrs.

Before the film’s release, Tamils everywhere — from Eelam to the global diaspora — raised strong objections to the use of the sacred name “Karumpuli Miller”, a legendary hero and martyr of the Tamil liberation struggle, for a commercial movie. The use of such a revered name for business or entertainment purposes deeply wounded the emotions of the Tamil people.

Through continuous, peaceful, and dignified resistance, the Tamil community made their voices heard loud and clear. Responding to that united call, the film’s production company has now accepted the request and decided to change the movie’s title.
This is not merely a title change —
it is the victory of Tamil unity, awareness, and moral responsibility to protect the legacy of our martyrs.

Today, the Tamil nation has once again proven to the world that “only through struggle comes survival.”

When Tamils unite, no power, no authority, and no commercial interest can distort or erase our history.
Our protest was not driven by hatred but by consciousness.

Our voice was not for division but for identity and dignity.

Our demand was not political but moral — to protect the honour of our fallen heroes.

Through this collective action, Tamils have opened a new chapter — ensuring that no one, in the future, can exploit Tamil sacrifices or rewrite Tamil history for profit.

We extend our gratitude to the film’s producers and associated teams for respecting the collective emotions and sentiments of Tamil people and for taking this rightful step.

The film has now been retitled as “Porattam” (“Struggle”).
May this new name symbolize the enduring spirit, resilience, and identity of the Tamil people.
