Karumpuligal – The Fire in Shadows

Out of the pitch-black dark, they rose like a spark,
Karumpuligal — the very nerve of a whirling storm!
With the scent of sulphur stitched to their chests,
They defied all human bounds — warriors who stared death straight in the eye!
They sowed light in lands drowned in night,
Offered half-breath lives as full sacrifice to the homeland.
Even when the end was certain and near,
It was their blood that flowed — shaping Eelam into sacred ground.
They walked paths with no footprints to follow,
Revolutionary shadows that lit fire wherever they touched.
With sleepless eyes, they dreamed an entire nation,
And launched arrows of lightning in the name of liberation.
“O Death! Come if you dare!” — roared their fearless cry,
Even fascist flames burned powerless on tiger-striped chests!
Though their bodies turned to ash in battle,
Their spilling blood cooled the land with holy freedom.
Don’t ever forget them — even as shadows, they burn within,
Their names still blaze in our chests — the Karumpuligal flame.
Like sacred lamps in temple halls,
They lit up the darkest nights of the struggle.
