Applications Open for Interest-Free Student Loan Scheme in Sri Lanka

Colombo, Sri Lanka — The Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Training has officially announced the commencement of applications for student admissions into degree programs under the Interest-Free Student Loan Scheme.

This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to eligible students across the country, enabling them to pursue undergraduate studies at recognized non-state higher education institutions without the burden of interest-bearing loans. The scheme is part of the government’s broader commitment to expanding access to higher education and empowering the nation’s youth.

According to the Ministry, the loan will cover tuition fees and provide a monthly stipend to support students throughout the duration of their academic programs. Repayment will begin only after graduation, with flexible terms designed to ease the transition into the workforce.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the eligibility criteria and application procedures available on the Ministry’s official website. The deadline for submission of applications will be announced shortly.
