Scandinavian Airlines Warns of Further Disruptions Following Easter Travel Surge

OSLO, Norway — 18 March 2026 — A major Scandinavian airline said this week that passengers should expect additional flight cancellations in the days following Easter, citing ongoing operational strain and a shortage of available crew.

The carrier, which operates routes across Northern Europe and several long‑haul destinations, confirmed that it has already cancelled several services during the busy holiday period. A spokesperson said the airline is “working to stabilise schedules,” but warned that disruptions are likely to continue as staff recover from an intense travel season.

According to the airline, a combination of high passenger demand, weather‑related delays, and crew availability issues contributed to the initial wave of cancellations. “We understand the frustration this causes for travellers, and our teams are doing everything possible to rebook affected customers,” the spokesperson said in a written statement.

Aviation analysts note that several European airlines have faced similar challenges this spring. Industry groups say that while travel demand has returned to pre‑pandemic levels, staffing levels across airlines and airports have not fully recovered, leaving carriers vulnerable during peak periods.

Passengers travelling later this week have been advised to monitor their flight status closely and allow extra time at airports. Consumer groups also reminded travellers that EU regulations entitle passengers to compensation or rebooking options in cases of significant delays or cancellations.

The airline said it expects operations to gradually normalise but did not provide a specific timeline.
