In a bold step toward global expansion, Pacsun, the iconic Californian youth lifestyle brand, has entered into an exclusive partnership with Majid Al Futtaim, the regional retail and leisure pioneer, to debut in the Middle East. The first flagship store is scheduled to open at Mall of the Emirates, Dubai, in early 2026, followed by a rollout of up to 20 stores across the GCC over the next five years.
A Cultural Expansion Beyond Retail
Founded in 1980, Pacsun has become a cultural cornerstone for Gen Z and Gen Alpha in the United States, blending fashion, music, art, and sport into its brand identity. CEO Brieane Olson emphasized that the company’s mission has evolved from “curating clothes to creating community,” highlighting a purpose-driven approach that resonates with young consumers worldwide.
Majid Al Futtaim’s Lifestyle CEO Fahed Ghanim described the partnership as a “refounding moment” for the group, noting that Pacsun represents more than a retail addition—it is a cultural force shaped by youth voices. He stressed that the GCC’s digitally savvy youth market is primed for a brand that champions authenticity, inclusivity, and creativity.
Launch Strategy and Regional Engagement
Pacsun’s introduction to the region was staged at the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2025, where the brand unveiled a limited-edition apparel line. The activation drew overwhelming crowds, with merchandise selling out rapidly, signaling strong demand for Pacsun’s offerings.
The expansion will be supported by regional e-commerce platforms and experiential activations, ensuring that Pacsun’s Californian spirit is accessible both in-store and online. The company’s Youth Report, surveying 6,000 young people in the U.S., revealed that music is the primary tool of identity-building and mental health is a top priority—insights that will inform its Middle East strategy.
Looking Ahead
With more than 350 stores across the U.S. and a strong digital presence—boasting 4.5 million followers on TikTok and Instagram—Pacsun’s arrival in Dubai represents a significant milestone in its global journey. The partnership underscores Majid Al Futtaim’s strategy of curating brands that add long-term cultural and strategic value to its ecosystem.
As Pacsun prepares to open its doors in Dubai, the collaboration signals not just a retail expansion but the beginning of a regional conversation around youth identity, creativity, and community.
