TAMIL NADU ON THE EDGE OF A DEBT TIME BOMB ₹10.71 Lakh Crore Debt… ₹189.3 Crore Interest Every Single Day!

Total debt of Tamil Nadu: ₹10.71 lakh crore
Annual interest payment alone: ₹69,113 crore
Daily interest burden: ₹189.3 crore

These numbers clearly show how dangerously a state’s financial condition is moving toward a “critical stage.”

To understand this more deeply, here are some comparisons:

The Scale of Interest (Daily Burden)

₹189 crore per day in interest is an amount beyond normal human imagination.

• Per hour: Approximately ₹7.89 crore

• Per minute: Approximately ₹13.1 lakh

In just the one minute you spend reading this, the Tamil Nadu government loses around ₹13 lakh purely in interest payments.

What Could This Money Have Done?

With ₹69,113 crore paid annually as interest, Tamil Nadu could have transformed its future:

• Education: Around 6,000 modern smart government schools could be built every year

• Healthcare2–3 AIIMS-standard hospitals in every district could be constructed

• Agriculture: All 39,000 lakes across Tamil Nadu could be restored and modernized within a year

Debt Burden Per Person

Assuming Tamil Nadu’s population is about 8 crore:

Each citizen effectively carries a debt of approximately ₹1,33,000

A child born today is born with over ₹1 lakh of debt even before their first cry

A Dangerous Future Ahead

If a large portion of income goes only toward interest payments:

• There will be no funds for new development projects

• Maintenance of roads, bridges, and infrastructure will suffer

• The government may need to borrow again even to pay salaries

Final Warning

This ₹189 crore daily interest is nothing short of an “economic time bomb.”

While we sleep, eat, and work… every minute, ₹13 lakh from our children’s future is being drained away just to pay interest.

The Big Question

What is the solution?
Freebies?
Or a self-reliant, sustainable economic model?
