The Tamil liberation struggle is one of the most important national self-determination movements in modern history. Yet, this struggle was not only undermined by external enemies but also sabotaged internally by traitorous actors and fabricated “human rights” reports that distorted reality.
From the very beginning, UTHR(J) reports worked to blur the truth of state-sponsored genocide in Sri Lanka, portraying the Tamil liberation movement instead as “terrorism.” Today, this same agenda continues under a new banner – Jaffna Monitor.
✦. Jaffna Monitor – Continuing the Work of Betrayal
Following the legacy of UTHR(J), Jaffna Monitor operates today under the guise of “human rights,” publishing narratives that discredit and delegitimize the Tamil liberation struggle.
Key figures involved include:
● Former members of UTHR(J)
● So-called journalists, among them Yathindra, who has openly praised controversial global figures like Henry Kissinger and aligned with Israeli military interests.
✦ Henry Kissinger – A Symbol of Hypocrisy
Henry Kissinger, one of America’s most infamous strategists, is celebrated by these so-called journalists despite his record of mass atrocities.
● Between 1969 and 1973, under Kissinger’s direction, U.S. bombing campaigns in Cambodia killed more than 600,000 civilians.
● Yet, these same journalists glorify Kissinger while demonizing the Tamil liberation struggle as a violation of “human rights.”
This blatant double standard exposes their hypocrisy.
✦. Israeli Connections
Some of these journalists, including Yathindra, have traveled to Israel on military invitations.
Israel, a long-time arms supplier and intelligence partner to Sri Lanka, directly aided Colombo’s genocidal war. The link between these writers and Israel reflects the broader political networks working against Tamil national aspirations.
✦. Media Betrayal – A Diplomatic Network
During the 2008–2009 period, when genocide against Tamils reached its peak, the Sri Lankan Deputy Consul General in Chennai, Amza, carried out a similar propaganda mission.
By manipulating Indian media, Amza framed Sri Lanka’s genocidal war as merely a “counter-terrorism operation,” thereby deflecting global attention from mass atrocities.
Today, this same function continues through UTHR, Jaffna Monitor, and associated media actors like Yathindra.
✦. Conclusion:
● UTHR(J) distorted Tamil liberation history, branding it as terrorism instead of resistance against genocide.
● Jaffna Monitor is now carrying this agenda forward.
● Those involved – who glorify Henry Kissinger, a man responsible for mass killings, and collaborate with Israel’s military establishment – cannot be seen as defenders of human rights.
Their so-called advocacy is nothing more than a façade to undermine Tamil political rights.
For the Tamil nation and the diaspora, it is vital to challenge these distortions, expose the hypocrisy, and preserve the true history for future generations.
